WORLD CUP OPENER - NEW ZEALAND THRASHED SRILANKA

At Christchurch first battle of Group A between New Zealand and Sri Lanka played today. Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to field first. Inspite of good bowling strength in lights of Lasith Malinga Sri Lanka was punished by Correy Anderson(75), McCullam(65) and Williamson(57) heavily, scoring a huge total of 331 on the scoreboard. New Zealand batsmen showed prime form with the bat yet again.

Sri Lankan bowlers suffered a lot. As Malinga is very strong bowler but he ended up with the figures of(0-84) in 10 overs. Front line bowlers are suppose to lift their team up but they let them down, thus creating a tough ask for the batsmen.
Sri Lankan openers went off to a great start but only got to 67. Then New Zealand bowlers got a way to nip through the batting line up. Southee,Boult,Milne,Vetorri,Anderson all fiver shared 10 wickets among themselves getting rid of 2 batsmen each. New Zealand played a nice game and goes top of the table at this early stage.
